Contraception for Young Women: Long-Acting Reversible Contraception and Emergency Contraception



This webinar will provide an update on hot topics in contraception for young women.

First, we will discuss long-acting reversible contraceptive methods (LARCs), consisting of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and arm implants. LARCs are currently recommended as top-tier contraceptive methods for young women because of their superior effectiveness rates in preventing pregnancy.

Topics of discussion will include comparisons between the different LARCs, benefits, risks, menstrual effects, placement procedures and patient counseling points.

Second, we will review and compare the the most effective forms of emergency contraception, their mechanisms of action and clinical considerations for each option.
